Port Engineer
- Ensuring compliance where appropriate with the Company Procedures and Policies in accordance with the requirements of the ISM Code and ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, ISO 18001:2007 Standards. - Ensuring the vessels are operated and maintained in accordance with good marine practice and in compliance with the Company/ Client and local Laws and Regulations, ensuring safe working practices are adhered to at all times. - Overseeing maintenance and repair of Topaz Marine owned, managed and operated vessels both in port and dry dock. Liaising with Dock Yard Management when vessels are dry docked or in repair facilities. Ensuring all works proceed in accordance with the work specification and within the the set time schedules. Overseeing any Sub-contractors employed on behalf of the Client. - Support implementation and monitoring preventive maintenance through NS5 - Assisting Managers in the preparation of vessels for Classification and Surveys in liaison with Class and Insurance Surveyors. - Ensuring that Chief Engineers of contracted vessels fully understand their obligations to the characters. - Ensuring that all mandatory procedures i. e. Tool box talks, Risk assessments, permits to work, hot work permits etc., are used effectively and filed for audit purposes. - Participating in the S.A.F.E -R Card program and stopping and reporting any unsafe acts, but also reporting on good safe working practices observed. - Liaising with Personnel Department & Marine Superintendent regarding all aspects of travel, crew changes and other Personnel issues in conjunction with the Vessel Master. - Assisting in investigating any accidents or incidents and preparing reports in conjunction with the relevant Superintendent (s), Senior Superintendent and QHSE Manager. - Undertaking visits offshore to vessels on location as required by the Fleet Manager. - Visiting all vessels during port visits and ensuring that all policies and procedures are being complied with regards to PPE, and taking action where violations are found. - Being prepared in an emergency (where certification is valid & relevant) to cover for a senior member of sea staff until such time as a relief can be obtained. - Carting out inspections and presentations as per QHSE Schedule on Company owned, managed or operated vessels and providing written reports on vessel equipment, machinery, structural and operational status. - Ensuring that all vessels are operated in accordance with good marine practices and in compliance with Company/ Client Procedures and Local Laws and Regulations, ensuring safe working practices are adhered to at all time. - Assisting with internal & external audits of all vessels owned, managed or operated by Topaz Marine and ensuring that corrective actions are acted upon. - Working closely with QHSE Manager so as to ensure implementation and ongoing compliance with Company Procedures. - Working closely with Ch Engineers on the vessels during any trouble and repair maintenance. - Preparing Activity Reports for such vessels under supervision, in accordance with Company ANDAS Reporting Procedures. - Maintaining records of all works carried out, detailing measurements, clearances, renewals, etc., where necessary. - Inspection, organizing routine maintenance on the vessel, barges during lay-up or winterization. - Preparing vessel work specification as required.
